On tonight's Food Network episode of “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” Guy Fieri took the red Camaro to San Francisco, Calif. to find delicious foods in this great city on this episode titled “Servin’ Up San Francisco.”
First stop; Miller’s East Coast Deli with some of the best items straight from the east coast in Baltimore. Guy got to watch people eating giant corned beef sandwiches. Robby Morgenstein comes from a long line of Kosher caterers, and all of his cousins have delis. The matzo ball soup was just an awesome concoction as Guy watched it being made from scratch. Yum! As the customers paid tribute to the food, that they said was to die for. Guy got to see the corned beef made as his mouth watered. Potato latkes were another great comfort food he watched being made, then got to taste as the fans just watched jealous eyes.
At Soma StrEAT Food, a food truck park, Guy found the KoJa Kitchen. This truck features Korean and Japanese food reinvented. Guy got to see first-hand how Alan Tsai made their signature marinade. Then Guy got to try the short ribs between two rice cake patties that brings their customers back for more.
At The Front Porch Guy got to chow down on southern comfort food. As Josie White and Kevin Klein, best friends and business partners will attest, they love their funky little joint. Their chef Matt Marcus cooked up shrimp and grits for Guy to enjoy. The grits are loaded with cheddar cheese, and the spices that coat the shrimp, andouille sausages in the red eye gravy are a delight Guy called succulent and he does not believe he ever used that work in Triple D. He got to try Dr. Pepper short ribs, another specialty of the house. The outcome was spectacular, with celery root puree, mustard greens and fall-apart short ribs that were garnished with fresh grated horseradish. Someone should invent “smell-o-vision!”
If you cannot hop in the red Camaro with Guy, tune in, and he may be coming to a place near you on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”
