On last night's episode of “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” Guy Fieri took the red Camaro to find two new joints to make fans mouths water with their wonderful creations.
In this episode titled "Hittin' the Grill," he visited two places in; Los Angeles, Calif. and Tacoma, Wash. for this episode of Triple D.
In Los Angeles, he visited "The Golden State" on Fairfax Avenue, a burger joint with a twist. Two rookies, Jason Bernstein and James Starr opened the place with no culinary experience and turned their Mediterranean burgers into something that has customers clamoring for. The lamb burgers come with homemade yogurt dill sauce and a side of hand cut sweet potato wedges, baked to perfection and then quickly deep fried to add the finishing touch. The next creation was their pulled pork topped with pickled jalapenos, pickled onions and their special hot sauce and served with coleslaw to happy hungry customers.
In Tacoma, he visited "Crown Bar" where good food and drinks. Modeled after its namesake in Belfast, Ireland, Charlie McManus and his wife, Jacqueline opened this place that offers pub food with a Mediterranean twist. The Moroccan beef kabobs were a treat to behold, on curried couscous was done to perfection. The beet salad is another specialty that supports the local farmers. Even the beet farmer was there eating the beet salad. The golden and red beets had to be roasted separately or the red ones would bleed into the golden ones. After roasting, the skins are rubbed off, and a citrus vinaigrette with honey from their own bees, finished off with goat cheese, it is a best seller at this bar where vegetarians can also enjoy bar food.
So if you cannot hop in the red Camaro with Guy, tune in and maybe he will be coming to a place near you on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”
