On last night's episode of “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” Guy Fieri took the red Camaro to find three new joints to make fans mouths water with their wonderful creations.
In this episode titled "Eurocentric," he visited three places in; Toronto, Canada, Syracuse, N.Y. and Tacoma, Wash. for this episode of Triple D.
In downtown Toronto, Guy visited a street in between Little Italy and Little Portugal to find a place called "Hey Meatball." It was a trip to Istanbul, Turkey where chef Rodney Bowers was inspired by the kofta he tasted there. They grind the meat and make their own recipes of various varieties. Guy tried the spaghetti; they make homemade pasta and their delicious meatballs for everyone, including vegan. The specialty of the house is the "Rod-Father," that Rodney made just for Guy with cheesy pesto on crusty ciabatta bread. Next they made his famous chicken meatballs, using only thigh meat for juiciness. They made a roux with butter, flour, broth and herbs, then added crimini mushrooms. Four meatballs over mashed potatoes with gravy and a mouthwatering creation was produced.
Next stop was Tacoma to "Bruno's European Restaurant." Polish chef Bruno brought memories from the old country to serve the hungry masses. The Hangover Soup looked like a winner, with sausage, potatoes, dill pickles and everything but the kitchen sink. Guy lapped it up as Bruno smiled proudly. The patrons love the place, with singing and dancing in authentic old world costumes.
The last stop was Syracuse, to visit "Eva's European Sweets" a restaurant with food from Poland and Eastern Europe. Eva made potato pancakes for Guy as he waited patiently for the fruits of Eva's labor. She made Hungarian sauce with ground beef, peppers, onion, paprika, cayenne, to put over the potato pancakes and topped with sour cream. The best comfort food around, happy patrons would never leave Syracuse unless Eva came with them.
So if you cannot hop in the red Camaro with Guy, tune in and maybe he will be coming to a place near you on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”
