Chaya Restaurant has a location in the middle of the downtown Los Angeles business district. This week Chaya and may other restaurants are participating in Dine LA. The menu features plenty of scrumptious options including appetizers of iceberg lettuce wedge salad, Hawaiian Albacore Tuna Carpaccio. If you are wondering what the word which rhymes with Gazpacho means, Carpaccio is a dish of raw meat or fish generally thinly sliced or pounded thin and served as an appetizer. The Hawaiian Carpaccio was fabulous, prepared with jalapeño ponzu and crunchy arare. Although, everything my dining companion and I ate was delicious, this appetizer was destined to be the star.
As for Entrées on the lunch menu, pancetta wrapped pan fried Gulf shrimp and rigatoni with Tuscan-style braised Colorado lamb shank were our entrees of choice. The Gulf shrimp is paired with povencal vegetable creamy polenta and parmigiano-reggiano The dark green kale is pleasing to the eye pulls together well for featured Mediterranean dish of polenta and pancetta. The rigatoni dish has an incredible sauce, tender meat, roasted fennel and fresh sage.
We finished the afternoon of dining with a pleasing red velvet cupcake with light sprinkles of coconut.
Dine LA Lunch Menu is $22
Chaya will also have special prefix menu for Valentine's day.
