With the atmosphere of an old Mexican adobe, La Cocina’s walls are built with real colored stones and bricks. This theme, carried out throughout the restaurant, heightens the old world “look”.
Gabriel, the Guacamole Man, pushes his cart to each table to prepare a special extra-large guacamole bowl especially for them. Watch Gabriel cut and prepare the ingredients from scratch for his table-side demonstration.
It is a “Build-it-yourself” guacamole bowl. If you wish spicy, extra spicy or any way you prefer, the bowl is prepared to your tastes in front of you. Sometimes guests call him twice or three times in one evening as a tribute to his expertise. It is fun to watch him.
Ron Castro, General Manager, explained, “Jerry De Reyes, the owner, and Chef Thomas create authentic recipes. The diverse menu was built for hungry and all appetites with some dishes you will not find anywhere else.
Between Jerry and Chef Thomas, their recipes never seem to surprise me.
The owner hand-picks all of the meats himself. We are very picky about the quality of the food from the suppliers.”
I enjoyed the chicken salad, the mix of tastes of warm chicken with the greens, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado and cheese. Healthy and filling, the chicken was marinated in the chef’s secret recipe.
What can you do with a salad? Among their five salads, the garlic lime chicken salad offered a different taste treat. Their Angus salad brings the guests the finest meat.
The fajitas are like a dinner and show. Everyone in the restaurant watches the waiter bring them to the table sizzling. They offer a big selection of fajitas including steak, chicken, shrimp, carnitas, steak and chicken, chicken and shrimp or steak and shrimp.
Ron feels, “The enchiladas sauces are recipes that blows me away. You can eat it with a spoon. They are one of the favorites of this restaurant. We have the Three Amigos, Mole, Marias, Suizas, Chipotle, Rancheros, Tapatias and Oaxaca sauces.
It is amazing some of the recipes they come up with.”
Discussing their wide selection, guests can build and pick their own from over 20 combination plates.
