On recent episodes of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," Manzo, who split from her husband Tommy in Oct. 2012, has been seen with a dark-haired man, named Matthew Schultz, and in a new interview, Schultz is speaking out about their time together on the show.

“I think it caught us both off guard,” Schultz revealed to Radar Online on Aug. 3 of his and Manzo's first meeting at a cast party. “We kind of both got a little red faced.”

Manzo and Schultz were reportedly set up at the first responders party by Manzo's newest co-star, Nicole Napolitano. Right away, Schultz was attracted to Manzo, both because of her looks and because of her humanitarian efforts.

“That was one thing that kind of really hit home with me and drew me to her is that she does so much charity work,” he said.

Unfortunately, Manzo's ongoing drama from split from Tommy was an issue for Schultz. Although Manzo and her husband parted ways nearly two years ago, they continue to live in the same house -- and there have been reports that they still do things only a married couple would.

After finding details about her situation during a dinner date to Serendipity, Schultz reevaluated his possible future with Manzo.

“We just stay in touch,” he said. “I think both of us are at the stage where it’s not the biggest thing in our life that we’re focused on because I think she’s still kind of also uncomfortable in her situation where she lives with her ex-husband or whatever they call themselves now."

“It kind of threw me for a little bit of a surprise,” he added.

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" airs on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
