Something gives this writer the sneaking suspicion that Mitt Romney did not personally condone the following ...
Nevertheless, an unusual level of almost-cutely-naive oh-am-I-doing-something-wrong shamelessness was recorded for posterity in Shelby Township, Michigan earlier today.
Rick Santorum supporters planted hundreds of campaign signs prior to a Romney appearance there earlier, including relatively close to where a Romney campaign stop would be. Santorum's campaign, of course, had every much right to have signs there as Romney's campaign did. (The Michigan Primary takes place next Tuesday, March 28.)
According to RebelPundit:
Approximately two hours before the scheduled event, Romney campaign staffers, including Dennis Lennox of Topinabee, MI, began planting Romney signs in front of the location. Around the same time, several other people, who refused to identify themselves, began uprooting hundreds of Santorum signs along the roadway leading to the event. Signs placed at a commercial intersection were also removed.
The video, linked here, shows two men planting Romney signs and "power walking" when confronted with questions. Additionally, two other men went about their business removing Santorum signs even after it became obvious that they were on video. One -- who seemed "uniony" -- proceeded to use obscene language while being recorded. The other -- whose accent was clearly not a stereotypical Michigan accent -- was considerably less hostile, saying "... just doing my job" almost charmingly.
RebelPundit also mentions: "One officer on the scene, Lou Francis, refused to assist in retrieving stolen campaign signs valued at over $1500."
