No one likes stomach aches, but most of us live with them as a normal part of life. Guess what-- it's not normal! Here are some great tips to keep you regular:
1. Up your fiber:
Fiber comes in many forms, and the one your body likes best is naturally in food. Besides increasing your intake of yummy green veggies, flax seed is a great addition. Buy it ground and add it to smoothies, use it as an egg replacer in baking, or mix it in applesauce or yogurt as a quick snack
2. Fermented foods:
The fermentation process is sort of the beginning of digestion, so fermented foods can be easier on your body than unfermented. This is especially true if you are taking antibiotics which can have negative side effects on your digestion. They bring in healthy bacteria that can aid in many stomach and inflammatory issues. Some fermented foods include miso, sauerkraut, yogurt, kimchi, and pickles.
3. Try a probiotic:
Much like fermented foods, probiotics bring to your body TONS of good bacteria that can help to repair the gut of even people with IBS or Crohn's disease. They were a lifesaver for me and helped me to regulate my entire digestive system. In the more concentrated pill form, look for a brand that is free of fillers and unnecessary ingredients. It may take some experimentation to find a brand that agrees with your body, but don't give up! PB8's veggie capsules are a great place to start.
