The spirit of giving and celebration of the greatest gift continued the day after Christmas as pastors prepared their flock for the New Year. Listening to the recurring theme of sermons in Las Vegas, Henderson and Summerlin left no doubt God was in the midst of these services.
The Champion Center service was lead by Pastor Jeremy Bosma. He advised the congregation to examine several things; what bothers you, your unique gifts, opportunities and your willingness to take chances. Prompting listeners to take on new challenges based on what they enjoy, what they do well and how it serves others in the body of Christ.
Across town Pastor Benny Perez of The Church at South Las Vegas taught a similar message. Speaking on the free gift of Grace he counseled the congregation there is too much emphasis on what people can do instead of emphasis on God.
Pastor Benny used a young pregnant Mary. She knew it took two people to get pregnant. Yet, she was not impregnated by people power. Mary was impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Pastor Jeremy used Ehud a left handed man in a right handed society ruled by an oppressive king; to illustrate, what brought ridicule and persecution by man were unique gifts opening the door for opportunity and victory.
Pastor Jeremy taught opportunities are all around; using Ehud’s physical limitations and the kings excessive body weight as examples of inconspicuous blessings. Pastor Benny promoted Mary’s attitude toward her pregnancy encouraging listeners to make themselves available for God and seize the attitude “I’m a candidate for whatever You want to do; God produce in me…”
Pastor Jeremy encouraged listeners to take chances and not be discouraged if things get a little messy along the way. Serve with the gift God gave you and take a risk knowing that you are God’s masterpiece. Pastor Benny declared don’t think about what didn’t take place think about what may take place, consider what miracle is in motion for you and what is God birthing in you.
Across the valley congregations listened as Pastors Denise Goulet, Benny Perez and Jeremy Bosma affirmed the church is not the building. We the people are the Body of Christ. Our gifts and abilities should be used to advance the Kingdom of God
