Hosted by DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (www.diffa.org), as a sister event to Dining by Design, Picnic by Design is being held on August 13, 2014, at Midtown Loft and Terrace, 267 Fifth Avenue, New York.
This event will highlight great design, food and fun and all for a good cause!
This important fundraising event was generated by an emerging group of young design professionals based in New York City. Their intention was to reframe the definition of the classically traditional picnic basket and to do so with the idea of engaging a whole new generation of individuals with Diffa's great work.
Now as part of this competition, designers are given general basket requirements and their exciting picnic creations are then sold online in advance. When guests arrive, they are taken to their designer picnic set-up, which they then take home following the festivities with all proceeds of this going to this wonderful non-profit.
Now the Diffa community is comprised of supporters from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design. Fundraising efforts are continually heightened by these strategic partnerships and through their unique fundraising events, such as Picnic by Design, Diffa has donated over $40 million dollars to hundreds of AIDS service organization worldwide.
So since 1984 these donations have been used to:
l. provide preventative educational programs targeted to population at risk of infection.
2. provide treatment and direct-care services for people living with HIV/AIDS.
3. and to provide public policy initiatives which add resources to private sector efforts.
So if you appreciate the kind of support that DIFFA is providing for the health and safety of those at risk and want to enjoy a potentially fun-filled picnic in addition to an awesome event then click HERE and attend this all important fundraiser.
