Your great to the multipleX grand cousins may not be your cousins they may actually sort of be your grandparentsX and they may also be related to the little known Denisovians and if so scientists have no idea how they could have gotten there and they don’t look like existing Denisovians anyway.
Confused? So are the smartest evolutionary scientists in the world after the recent discovery of 400,000 year old bones in a cave in Spain.
The thigh bone was discovered in Sima de los Huesos Spain. "Right now, we've basically generated a big question mark," study researcher Matthias Meyer, of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Germany.
So their discovery, as confusing as it all sounds, means one simple thing. There apparently were many other different kinds of humans than scientists have until now believed and by the way we haven’t even mentioned long lost Homo erectus.
Scientists are also now postulating that ancient humans not only got busy with Neanderthals and Denisovians but also with this new mystery bunch from this cave. Well they say variety is the spice of live after all!
One day in our quest for meaning we may know what actually happened. However, for now all what we’ve got is more questions than answers,.
The only thing scientists can do now is sequence more of this newly discovered DNA and compare it to that of ancient humans.
The bottom line is you probably have ancestors you knew and some we’re just finding out existed and that great grandpa invariably hooked up with and thank goodness he did or you wouldn't be here.
Now go eat a banana!
