Did WWE drop the ball by not including Daniel Bryan in the Royal Rumble?

According to a Jan. 27 report from CagesideSeats.com, the WWE may have dropped the ball by not including Daniel Bryan in Sunday night's Royal Rumble in Pittsburgh, Penn.

There was once a time when Vince McMahon and the rest of the WWE brass would give in to WWE Universe by granting them exactly what they wanted to see during major events.

For example, McMahon once pitted Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon against each other at a SummerSlam event for no reason besides having a fun bout for the fans.

Those days appear to be long gone, as it was made clear during the WWE Royal Rumble 2014 that the Pittsburgh fans would not be getting their wish of seeing Daniel Bryan in the 30-man competition.

Bryan competed against Bray Wyatt in a preliminary card bout during the Royal Rumble, but that wasn't enough to please the fans on hand for the event.

Throughout the Royal Rumble, Pittsburgh wrestling fans were chanting for Bryan to pull double duty by making a cameo during the 30-man battle.

Batista was reportedly so mad by the fans' reaction to him winning the Royal Rumble that he flipped the middle finger at them.

The former WWE champ got into a bit of a verbal altercation with a wrestling fan who had given him the middle finger.

Batista was shown on camera telling the fan that he'd "snap him in half," and then proceeded to flip the bird at him.

Batista then did Bryan's "Yes!" chant at the top of the ramp, while fans booed him.

Bryan addressed the matter from his official Twitter page, as he said "the machine" kept him out of the competition.

"Sorry guys, the machine wanted me nowhere near the Royal Rumble match. But I thank everyone for their support. YOU are the #YESMovement," Bryan tweeted.

Bryan's Royal Rumble tweet was retweeted over 11,000 times, so it's clear the WWE faithful is on his side.
