Did the groundhog see his shadow for Groundhog Day 2013: Punxsutawney Phil (Video)

Rise and shine, America! It's Groundhog Day 2013, and it's time to find out what everyone wants to know: Did the groundhog see his shadow? (Or, to be specific, did the groundhog see his shadow 2013? Who needs a bunch of Google search results from ten years ago cluttering up the works?)

Did The Groundhog See His Shadow 2013: What Did Punxsutawney Phil Predict?

World-famous Pennsylvania groundhog Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this Groundhog Day 2013 morning, Sun. Feb. 2, predicting an early spring this year. Several fellow climate-predicting groundhogs such as Dunkirk Dave, who also failed to see his shadow Sunday morning, are in agreement with his more famous groundhog buddy, Punxsutawney Phil, suggesting the wily Pennsylvania woodchuck may just be on the right track.

Down south, however, it's a whole other story. Punx's confederate counterpart and so-called "technologically astute groundhog" General Beau Lee begs to differ with this whole not-seeing-my-shadow thing. Apparently having missed the memo from up north, General Beau Lee indeed saw his shadow this morning (Feb. 2), which, as everyone knows, predicts six more weeks of winter. So, who got it right?

Last year, the answer to "did the groundhog see his shadow?" was a big yes, according to Punx. Though Punx came out of his den to see his shadow in 2012, it turned out to be one of the warmest and earliest-ending winters on record for more than half the country. How will this year's predictions fare as time ticks by toward spring?

Now that you're up to speed on Groundhog Day 2013, take a look at more of Punx's past year's predictions here!
