On January 2, the off-again/on-again couple was spotted hanging again after a long break. This month, the "Boyfriend" singer sent her $10,000 in flowers, and flew to Texas to see her. Two days later, the "Slow Down" singer accompanied him to the SXSW music festival.
It's not surprising that Swift would disapprove of a reunion between the "Spring Breakers" star and her ex-boyfriend. The "22" singer has never been never been a supporter of their relationship. Back in May 2013 at the Billboard Music Awards, Swift conspicuously refused to answer any questions about Bieber. She was also caught on camera grimacing when Gomez and Bieber kissed backstage.
Gomez' ex-boyfriend may not be the only issue that is driving a wedge between them. According to Us Weekly, Swift began distancing herself after Gomez reportedly "used" a brief romance between her and Ed Sheeran to make the country singer jealous. Still, given that the Us Weekly source is unnamed, there is no evidence that this story is true.
Another factor that might contribute to a possible fallout is Swift's new friendship with Lorde. "Selenators" are none too pleased about the fact that Gomez' close pal is getting closer to someone who made such disparaging remarks about her in the past.
Back in September 2013, Lorde suggested that Gomez' single, "Come and Get It" promoted an anti-feminist message and that she was "sick of women being portrayed this way."
Still, Gomez seems to be taking the high road with Lorde. In a Seventeen interview, she commented, "I'm going to support her whether she likes me or not because I think she's doing great things. I've never met her, but she's extremely talented, and she has a voice that she likes to use, and I think that's great. Some day I will see her and we'll be cool."
Is Taylor Swift right about Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber? Or does Swift need to mind her own business? Do you think their friendship is on the rocks? Or can they work things out?
