Did Ravens can cheerleader for her weight? (Photos)

Is 125.4 pounds too heavy for a football cheerleader? Exactly when does the football season end if a team is in playoff contention, the regular season or last game? How you answer could determine your sympathy for Courtney Lenz.

Lenz was a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader who claims she is being left home from the Super Bowl for being too fat. Cheerleading bosses wanted Lenz at 120 pounds. She cheered most of the season at 124.

“They didn’t specifically say that [I was disqualified for weight gain], but when it comes down to it, that’s the only disciplinary action I had during the year,” she told Today News. “I got benched because of my weight, and they said that was the reason. Anybody that had disciplinary action taken during the season was automatically disqualified. However, there are some girls on the team that were also benched for their weight and are going.”

Lenz, 23, started as a college freshman. The cheerleader is a five-year veteran who announced she would retire at the end of the season. Apparently real life got in the way of the cheerleader fantasy.

Lenz also claims the club is retaliating for her retirement. The cheerleader said she was the only performer with more than three years’ service not invited to the big game.

The Ravens counter the league allows only 32 cheerleaders per team at the Super Bowl. Since Baltimore has 60, it was a numbers game.

“Our selection process was based upon three criteria: seniority, performance ability and personal conduct throughout the season,” spokeswoman Heather Harness said in a statement to ABCNews.com.

Even without Ms. Lenz, some of the hottest cheerleaders from 2013 Super Bowl teams according to bleachersreport.com, are in the slideshow.
