Everyone may understand that all restaurants have rules and regulations. However, some may think those rules should not apply to Miss Diana Ross. Last week, the legendary singer/actress attempted to dine at a Beverly Hills restaurant and was told she had to wait to be seated. Do Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have to wait?
According to reports, last Thursday, the "Lady Sings The Blues" actress walked into the ritzy La Scala restaurant in Beverly Hills, California to dine with her eldest daughter, Rhonda. Because Rhonda had not arrived yet, and Miss Ross did not have a reservation, the restaurant informed Ross that their policy is to insist guests are not seated until their entire party arrives. The New York Post stated that Ross refused to abide by the restaurants protocol and seated herself. Reports also claim the singer/actress began arguing with the staff and when her daughter showed up, they left.
Every other news article and media outlet covering this story has not addressed the race issue--if there is one. Would Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, or Jack Nicholson have to wait at the La Scala? Race isn't the only issue in question--Ross' gender may have played a role in this restaurant debacle as well. Would actor Will Smith had been told he could not be seated until his party arrived?
No. Not everything is about race and gender. However, we have to admit that in this society, what is usually done to women, isn't done to men.
