James O'Keefe appeared to admit that he went after ACORN because it registers minority voters. "Politicians are getting elected single handedly by this organization." No one holds them accountable." This was reported in an article on the Washington Post on September 18, 2009.
So goes the saga of ACORN and the two would be filmakers who according to Fox, exposed a major Big Government scandel, or did they? O'Keefe has used this same tactic before against Planned Parenthood. In this video he gets the counselors to say they are accepting money to abort only Black babies. There is eveidence of heavy editing of both these and the ACORN tapes as well.
One of O'Keefe's friends by the name of Liz Farkas said O'Keefe is a loyal friend but she became disillusioned after he asked her to help edit the script of a Planned Parenthood sting. Ms. Farkas stated that, " It was scripted to make the Planned parenthood nurse look bad. I said, It has no context. You are cherry picking the nurse's answers. He said okay and ran with it." ( this from Scott Shane NYT. 9-18-09 )
Further in Mr. Shane's article, Ms. Farkas was asked if what O'Keefe was doing wasn't like Michael Moore. She replied, " Michael Moore goes after the rich and powerful. James isn't doing that. He is going after low level bureaucrats and people who are trying to help low income people."
There already should be concerns about the factual basis of Mr. O'Keefe's video's after the San Bernardino video where the film makers were fooled by the person they were trying to fool when she told them she had killed her abusive ex-husband. Ms. Teresa Kaelke's ex-husband is alive and well according the San Bernardino police. Fox News including Hannity, Beck and others ran with this story before verifying if it was true.
There is now another editing problem surfacing for O'Keefe. A former ACORN employee Juan Carlos Vera who was fired over these video's has claimed he did nothing wrong. He claims he was trying to help people he thought were in danger.
Democratic Underground on its website states that the video itself would even seem to corroborate Mr. Vera's story. Four minutes into the video in question Hanah Giles states, " The girls are coming this weekend, thats why were in an emergency situation, thats why we like ran for help, because we wanted to get them before the pimp has time to bond and you know herd them away."
As Democratic Underground asks, this statement is much different than trafficking in underage girls It would seem to verify what Mr. Vera said. In addition neither Fox News or any other news source noted that Mr. Vera also called the police on the pair.
There are now several reasons to mistrust how much the evidence in these video's is factual. Far from Fox's most recent claims that the mainstream media ignores Conservative issues I'd have to say the media has been too accomodating. They raced to judgement and ACORN has been pronounced guilty until proven innocent just like the Right's now fraudulent claims of massive voter fraud.
James O'Keefe is a graduate of Martin Blackwell's Leadership Institute. This is the organization that gave us Karl Rove. Truth and honesty weren't his most outstanding traits either. Liberals are making fools of themselves racing to not be politically vulnerable. Whatever happens O'Keefe has you all looking as stupid as he did the Rutgers University Food Service when he claimed Lucky Charms cereal was offensive to the Irish for its portrayl of Leprechaun's. He secretly filmed that as well.

I don't buy this line of thinking at all. This wasn't racially motivated. It an attack on the poor. This was an attach on corrupt organization that hide behind the acts of being good. Also O'Keefe has history having problems with nonwhites from his days at Rutgers, so let's not make declarations about things you know nothing about.
You all have no idea what you're talking about. (With the exception of BillyBob) ACORN is one of the most corrupt organizations in the country. They've been busted for just about every crime imaginable. You can twist it any way you want but the videos don't lie. They were busted knowing they were trying to help bring underage girls across the border for use in a prostitution ring. If you think that’s okay then you have bigger problems. I personally know james and can guarantee you that the films are real. The people that are trying to stand up for acorn and bash James and hannah all need to shut up. What more proof do you need that acorn is completely corrupt? I consider James and hannah heroes for doing something that no one else would do. They deserve our thanks. Think about all of the tax dollars that we would have continued pouring into acorn. I'm not saying that every acorn office is as corrupt as the ones on film but there should be investigations running everywhere to weed out the corrupt ones. Instead acorn feels that their time is better spent going after James and hannah. The problem with your vouching for James is that on top of his problems with editing that come from both the Planned Parenthood and ACORN video's we now find out from a transcript of Fox News Sean Hannity's Show that both he and Giles and Breitbart,all lied about ACORN employee's turning them away and filing a police report. In fact both in Philadelphia and San Diego police reports were filed. In San Bernardino the ACORN employee played them not the other way around. Besides that ACORN is not the most corrupt organization, that distinction should go to Goldman Sach's or AIG, or CITIBank,or UBS or Blackwater or how about Haliburton defrauding the government and not wiring military compounds properly, or not providing adequate body armor to our troops or Boeing rigging bidding on government contracts. The failure of Conservatives to be equally incensed about these truly criminal acts makes for the appearance of both hypocrisy and political postering.

Let's ignore the fact that four separate ACORN offices didn't seem to have any problems with the fact that those underage girls were going to be used as sex slaves... and that includes San Diego where the worker in question conveniently mentioned this to his cousin 2 days after offering to facilitate bringing the sex slaves into the country.

I will make no retraction just because the main Stream media lack the courage of their convictions. As Paul Weyrich the brilliant Conservative strategist noted majority's don't always win elections. Yoy have to depress the other sides votes. When minorities vote in high numbers Democrats win. So of course he did it because they registered Black voters. It wasn't out of racism it is Weyrich's political strategy. This is born out more clearly by the latest video's to be exposed where he dupes non White working class people by telling them they won a lottery ( Taxpayer Clearing House ) In this he was clearly mocking the people he duped. It was funded by Peter Thiel the millionare creator of Pay Pal and early investor in Facebook who is decidedly anti multiculturalism and diversity but once again i wouldn't necessarily say it was Racist. I am not sure if he is devotee of Ayn Rand. Liz farkas has been qouted in several other sources besides the New York Times.

Part of Rove's strategy is to try to intimidate the opposition when they mount an offensive. They successfully did this during the last Presidential campaign when we spent weeks listening to He's paling around with terrorists based on Obama's being in the same room on a Republican run Chicage education board with William Ayers but nothing about Sarah Palin possibly being married to one. Her husband Todd was a registered member of a secessionist party with who once remarked the fires of hell are cold as ice compared to mu hatred of the U.S. At one time Conservatives would be organized to descend on opposition web sites to put up negative quotes to look like grass roots opposition. Why do minorities need ACORN so that they can register to vote? Can't everyone register to vote at the same place? Is there some separate but equal system going on that we're not aware of, or is this a false issue created so we can then cry about it, distracted from actual issues?

Also Vera contacted police, which certainly differs from the notion that he wanted to help anyone do anything illegal. As for who had a problem with what? No one knows what actually happened, unless O'Keefe releases all of the UNEDITED video tapes. I'm not buying the mp3/transcript BS put out by biggov.
Orly, minorities can register without ACORN, but ACORN has been highly effective in registering people of color and encouraging them to vote.
