Did North Korea sabotage Gulf oil rig, and did Obama cover it up?

For the past few days bloggers have been speculating on whether or not North Korea engaged in sabotage to torpedo the Gulf oil rig, resulting in a massive explosion that sent the rig sinking into the Gulf and spilling thousands of barrels of oil that are now headed to the Gulf Coast.

(AP Photo/Gerald Herbert).

This blog is an example of the story being reported, which is based upon a Kremlin report in the 'EU Times' which accuses North Korea of blowing up the rig in an attempt to sink a South Korean vessel in the Gulf.

At least one major mainstream media news outlet, television station WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina, also reported the story that quotes heavily from the Russians.

The Kremlin also maintains that Barack Obama ordered an immediate news blackout, preventing reporters from gaining access to the area or discovering information that would confirm or disprove the charges.

If this story turns out to be true, then there is no doubt that Obama has engaged in a cover-up.

At this point it is impossible to verify the facts of the original report from the Kremlin in the EU Times.  With a news blackout in effect, information is scant.  It is to be noted, however, that little information is coming from the mainstream media other than the expected, incessant drumbeat on the 'enormous environmental disaster and the dangers of drilling for oil in the Gulf,' etc., etc.

So far no information has been reported on why an oil rig, which is designed in such as way so as to prevent such an explosion and quick-sink into the sea, would suddenly and without explanation go up in a massive dark cloud of fire and smoke.

And there has been no report on survivors, no interviews with eyewitnesses, not even a report on the names of those who were working on the rig at the time.

In addition, Barack Obama's actions yesterday, and his public statement concerning those actions, are, at the very least, curious.  The wording of the statement is similar to one a President would make in the event of an act of sabotage.  And the fact that Obama sent the federal SWAT team to the area fuels even more speculation that there is something more afoot here than just an oil rig spill.

It is to be remembered, however, that if the explosion is the result of an act of sabotage, the source of such an act may have absolutely nothing to do with North Korea.  Environmentalist extremists have been known in the past to engage in acts of violence to get their message across and to prevent what they see as the 'raping' of the environment by the wicked, demented oil companies, nuclear energy companies, and others who do the demonic work of providing essential energy for the country--the energy that runs the computers from which Leftwing shills sit in their underwear in their momma's basements, spouting extremist propaganda.

Anything the Kremlin says, particularly with regard to their Communist comrades in North Korea, can be considered suspect, although at this point it is too early to entirely discount it.

But it is more credible to posit a theory of environmentalist wackos blowing up the rig, given their history, and given this is close to 'Earth Day,' and that this is 'May Day,' and that Obama and the Democrats who are now denouncing expanded oil exploration in the Gulf need a convenient excuse not only to back off from Obama's plan for limited expansion of oil drilling but to stop it entirely, as Democrat Senator Bill Nelson from Florida is now proposing.

All the more reason for Obama to send in the SWAT team to secure the area, initiate a news blackout, and cover up what really happened at the rig site.

BS......This is like 911 Truthers on the right. As for survivors, one was on the Mark Levin radio show.

This guy is a kook. Where is the evidence that a North Korean ship was in the Gulf of Mexico???

A News blackout??? Where has this fool been??? This has been on the news for the past week. Saying Obama dispatched a SWAT team (BTW SWAT are local police not federal and what good would they do against an alleged N Korean submarine) as proof of sabotage is like the Truthers who say since FEMA was in the vicinity of the WTC, that is proof GWB brought down the towers.

  • Anthony G. Martin 2 years ago

Eco--rather than attack me, the source is the Kremlin, not me. And I have stated it may not be true. And news reporters are NOT allowed at the scene, hence the blackout. You will also note the other possibility of sabotage by environmentalist wackos, who have done stuff like this before. Methinks your vehemence about this over the top. Why?

  • (Almost Embarrassed) Conservative 2 years ago

How do people come up with this crap? I'm a conservative, but when I hear this stuff, I'm almost embarrassed to associate with people like this. First there was Obama's a Kenyan crap with no real basis, then there's Larry Sinclair crap, and now there's this?

We, and rightfully so, mock those 9/11 truthers, those who think we went to Iraq for oil, and all, for being nothing more than idiots because they have no evidence and with stories like this, I ask: Why are you exempt?

  • emo 2 years ago

If sabotage and maximum damage were the goal, youd do it closer to the shore, not hundreds of miles offshore. No, environmental wackos have NOT done anything like this before. This logistics of deliberate attack like this would be very very difficult. However, accidents like this before have occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. One in 1979-80. Conservatives are sounding like Loose Change nutcases.

  • Anthony G. Martin 2 years ago

Almost embarrassed--So, you think reporting news that IS out there is tantamount to being a nutcase? I stated there is no way yet to verify the North Korea involvement. I also stated that environmentalist extremists have done stuff like this before, including setting fires in California that resulting in an environmental disaster of sorts. So what is your problem with reporting news that the mainstream will not report?

Well, the Nork freighter Dai Dong Dan departed Port of Havana on 18 April...according to her manifest, her next port of call was to be Porto Cabello,Venezuela....but she never arrived....and remember, the Deepwater Horizon rig was built by,and leased to BP by Hyundai...not much of a stretch to think the Norks torpedoed this rig like they did that ROK Navy destroyer a couple of weeks ago

  • Anthony G. Martin 2 years ago

I still want to know why I would not or should not report something the Kremlin said concerning an incident in our own Gulf!

There are certain individuals who come here who are making it clear, day after day, that THEY wish to silence any report with which they disagree. THAT is CENSORSHIP.

But, rather than deal with the information, they choose to attack me instead.

  • pacific_waters 2 years ago

Actually EMO, most federal LE agencies have SWAT teams. If one is willing to believe GWB, Mossad, the Illuminat, etc., engineered 9/11 then why not believe. It's more plausible. Would anyone have believed NK would kidnap Japanese citizens until the facts came out?

  • Spook 2 years ago

Oh yea. These rigs have been in the Gulf for years and years yet nothing like this happened until just a few days after Obama came out in support of off-shore drilling in limited areas. Then, just out of coincidence of course, two rigs have major problems. But, no worries. No way it could've been environmentalist wackos. Just pure coincidence like so many since Obambi the Communist usurped the Constitution and illegitimately occupied the Oval Office.

  • (Almost Embarrassed) Conservative 2 years ago

As a matter of fact, I do think exactly that. We don't need to spread around "news" that is suspect, at best. The plain and simple fact is, if it can't be verified at the time of reporting, it shouldn't be reported.

If the goal is to report on what's out there, why not report about the coup that happened in America, according to the EU Times? If, truly, the goal was to report what was out there, why not report on the coming "White extinction," as the EU Times puts it?

Also, just throwing this out there, maybe there's more credible sites out there than ones that steal logos from game sites(Their anonymous reporting logo is from Gamespy).

Almost embarrassed--Then you are no conservative. You are more like a Nazi-supporter of censorship. I reported that THE KREMLIN made an accusation. That we know. It has been verified. They said it. So, what is there here that has not been confirmed? When the Kremlin makes an accusation IT IS NEWS, my friend, and you are showing the world you are a supporter of restrictions of free speech and reporting of news.

  • Anthony G. Martin 2 years ago

Notice--the only people I know who believe in the suppression of free speech and a free press are the Nazis, the Fascists, the Commies, and the Marxists.

  • Nomad 2 years ago

The day you first check with the Kremlin to get any kind of confirmation instead of immediately functioning as gossip echo chamber, you will become a respected journalist...

  • (Almost Embarrassed) Conservative 2 years ago

That's interesting, being lectured by a guy about conservatism by a guy who seems closer to Jeff Rense and Alex Jones than anyone else. I do not support suppression of free speech as you seem to state, I say we should avoid straight up idiocy with no proof.

Your proof is a site who seems to find allegiance with Nazis as they link to a site that tells how the Jews were behind 9/11. They say that the Kremlin has this report out, surprisingly though, I didn't see you link to the report itself.

Just one thing I found interesting with your response, you called me a Nazi, basically, but who's the one using an arguably neo-Nazi site to support an absurd claim?

I was wondering how long it would take for this postulate to surface. It took me about 12 hours to notice the auspicious timing of this disaster for the Marxist left and the support this could bring to their agenda. Auspicious is a sick word to use in describing this but these are sick people so i wouldn't put it past them. I'd sooner believe this was "an inside job" than the Democrat "9/11 was an inside job" mantra. TableOfWisdom com

H2S(hydrogen sulfide) is possible but not probable in sufficient concentration for such a tremendous explosion to topple a semi-submersible. It would have killed(poisoned) everyone there first before and explosion.

    Hi Anthony,

These idiot posters should be banned. I wouldn't waste your time with them. Interesting story...The news blackout is real. Do we see media reports from the scene, from helicopters? Thanks, Anthony!

  • vern 2 years ago

This government coverup story does shed some light on what's really going on. The timing of the whole thing also has to be a little more than a coincidence.
Regardless of the facts, it seems that there can be a lot more done to prevent this spill from spreading. I suggest getting some tankers on site and start sucking up the oil as fast as it is spewing out.

  • Seewcrazy@aol.com 2 years ago

I jsut foudn out about this through the EU Times myself. I suspected ELF. But if this is truel it's just as bad if not worse.

  • Anthony G. Martin 2 years ago

Did anyone who has been blasting me for merely reporting suspicious circumstances surrounding the explosion 'check with the Kremlin?' Didn't think so. How would you know if I did or didn't? That is just more attempts to smear the messenger rather than deal with possibility that your Leftwing subversives may have sabotaged this, either the environmentalist wackos or the commie North Koreans.

And by the way, lg, I never said I trusted the Kremlin. I said this is worth reporting because it came from the Kremlin. If it turns out not to be true, then we have more evidence of disinformation...

And I WILL report a credible investigation that says there was absolutely no sabotage involved, if that in fact turns out to be the case.

  • lg 2 years ago

Whether it was sabotage or not or North Korea or not - we have a very serious problem - way beyond the cause of the fire/explosion. That is that adequate safety/security measures have not been taken. I appreciate the fiscal fear of big government and perhaps a fear of lost liberties. But who, if not the government, is going to force/require these rigs to have a viable plan in place to adequately address a failure of this magnitude? This inability to fix the hole is a much bigger problem than how we got the hole in the first place.

  • Gary 2 years ago

I think we give too much credit to the United States Government. They are my number one suspect. I don't trust a thing they are saying or doing. I have been looking for alternative news (for days) on this "explosion". Finally some information is coming forward. Who cares where it is coming from. Oh sorry all you CNN, Fox, network news fans. Keep taking the pill and remain comfortably numb.

  • Mojo 2 years ago

Obama had the rig destroyed to get all of the columns about his eligibility off of the front burner. So look at us, we fell for it.

I say we combine the two stories.

  • Anthony G. Martin 2 years ago

lg--this particular rig had the best technology available, complete with a system in place that was as close to being fail-proof as you can get. It's not like oil spills from rigs are a common occurrence. In fact, an honest assessment of this issue will reveal that it simply never happens. Thus, your argument this is somehow a failure of government oversight or a lack of precaution does not square with the facts.

  • lg 2 years ago

Your response sounds a bit like a press release. You might need to dig a bit deeper from a variety of sources. Until then I will simply agree to disagree.

  • HawaiiSurfer 2 years ago

The media silence on "what happened", rather than the "disaster effects" being reported, speaks loudly making it clear the truth isn't getting out. Why? Just like the media silence and lack of vetting of Obama's credentials to be the American Executive.

Why the delay's and odd police/military response? Makes one wonder if the initial blast wasn't enough to damage the entire rig and later a sub/jet was sent in to destroy any strange evidence contrary to what the WH and US media is dishing out.

Why is the POTUS going around doing everyone's eulogies? Ft Hood--he never wore a uniform. Coal miners--he never held a labor job. Why aren't leaders or ministers from these organizations leading ceremonies for their deceased with the president just respectfully attending?

People are getting tired of hearing and seeing Obama everywhere they turn. He has no class and little respect from the vast majority of Americans.

  • Pajamas 2 years ago

Anthony, won't BP reveal the truth if an investigation is done. They are not bound by the Obama Administration? I don't understand something about people though - why do they yell at you for asking the question and investigating it? How is it that they, with so little knowledge have the biggest mouths? I don't know what happened, I thought it all seemed rather suspicious right away, but I am open to listening to all the info. Are people that stupid that they don't believe any President, Democrat or Republican, wouldn't cover something up? I'm smart enough to know what I don't know and smart enough to question everyone and everything.
Thanks for reporting, and I hope you will continue to keep us posted.

I live on the Gulf Coast and local news has put names to a few and interviewed the family of some of the missing as well as surviving from the rig. I have seen no actual interviews of the workers though. Some survivors were brought to our hospitals.

actually, wral did not report it; it's simply on one of the blogs on their site.
as for eutimes, you have an anonymous pseudo-news site using a ghost domain registration under tucows posting an anonymous report claiming but never linking to or showing a copy of an alleged report from Russia's all-but-stuck-in-port Northern Fleet. considering the lack of evidence and eutimes history of promoting blatant lies and falsehood about the obama administration, as well as the lack of ~~any~~ corroborating reporting, this story is highly unlikely to have even a grain of truth to it.

in fact, eutimes appears almost certainly to be a product of south african white supremicists now living in the usa.

For everybody to know..... I believe in my government and I am mature enough to know the truth. I wish the truth to be reported. I wish for us as citizens to know the real truth, not what our leaders feel we should hear, and for all of us to solve this problem/ disaster/ attack as a united country.

It's funny that the left holds BP up as if they are an environmental company, yet they have had numerous accidents and spills and ecological disasters. Looking back at their western hemisphere mishaps, also correlates with times the US congress was debating controversial environmental legislation. Then the almost inaction by the admin that wants to push through forced global redistribution of wealth, allowing the spill to get out of hand. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but as Alinsky says "the ends justify the means."

After surviving some of the worst hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis and the like, all of a sudden, within days of Obambi announcing support for limited expansion of off-shore oil drilling, this rig and one other has an "unexplained explosion." Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Oh well, couldn't be anything evil here. Noone of sound liberal mind would suspect a government of covering up anything. Shoot, "the government is us" you know. Of course, when "the government of us" passes legislation AGAINST THE WILL OF THE MAJORITY it is still "us" - correct??!! NOT!!!!!!!
