Two days after resigning her position as Miss Delaware Teen USA 2012, Melissa King took to Twitter and posted a couple of comments that might lead one to think that, despite her protestations to the press, she actually was the star of a short sex video. Although the posts do not literally say that she was the young woman in the short porn film, there is enough of a suggestive quality to them to give that impression.
According to Fox News (the tweet have been removed), King wrote Thursday (Feb. 28): "Be strong, life has a funny way of working out. Kim K made it and now is one of the most powerful women in the US."
Of course, King was referring to reality show celebrity Kim Kardashian, who cashed in a friendship with Paris Hilton for a sex tape and a reality show, the latter of which has spun off several sequels, a fashion line, and a modeling career.
But does that mean that the young woman in the sex video that appears on GirlsDoPorn.com (NSFW) that said she did pageants and was in need of money is the former Miss Delaware Teen USA 2012? Because if it does, she was certainly denying the allegations on Monday when the New Journal asked her if she and the female featured in the video were the same person.
"Absolutely not," she told them.
But the next day she resigned from her beauty queen position, according to pageant officials. She won the title back in November.
Delaware Online reported that King had retained an attorney, although it is unclear at present what his role might be -- to sue the website and/or get them to shut down the video or to represent her as she struggles through the fallout of her pageant career. (She's already received a $250,000 offer from YouPorn.com to be their worldwide representative.)
King also retweeted the comment: "Everyone makes some bad decisions. Nobodies perfect!"
Regardless of the scandal, King's Twitter account is full of positive and supportive tweets (and, of course, the occasional derogatory, insulting, and/or sexist remark -- but that's social media).
And yet, all in all, does a retweet and a post pointing out Kim Kardashian's success add up to a confession? Not in the least.
But until the matter is finally resolved by a public statement of confession or proof to the contrary, the former Miss Delaware Teen USA will be the focus of intense speculation.
