Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux allegedly eloped to Mexico over the holidays, Gossip Cop reported on Wednesday, Jan. 2. However, the story, which originated with OK! Magazine, does not ring true.
OK! Magazine ran the headline “Jen & Justin Elope To Mexico!” on its most recent cover, seemingly promising the scoop on the surprise guests, intimate ceremony and Justin’s touching promise to their babies.
Reportedly Aniston and Theroux’s Christmas getaway to Cabo San Lucas was a “trial run for their elopement.” As Gossip Cop pointed out, eloping is spontaneous, there is no dress rehearsal.
OK! quotes a source who said, “She [Jennifer Aniston] wanted to see if it was possible for them (Jennifer and Justin Theroux] to have a fairly easy and private occasion. Mexico was the perfect place to give it a dry run.”
Allegedly, the source says, Jennifer Aniston is in “a big rush” to marry Justin Theroux, supposedly telling friends, “I just couldn’t wait any longer.”
Nowhere in the OK! article does it say that Aniston and Theroux actually got married during their Mexican vacation. Jennifer Aniston usually takes a trip to Mexico around the holidays each year. Gossip Cop reports that this year’s trip to Mexico had nothing to do with the couple’s eventual wedding.
Perhaps OK! magazine wanted to compete with the Telegraph story that Jennifer Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt and longtime girlfriend Angelina Jolie were married in Turks and Caicos over the holidays.
