An exclusive interview on Feb. 24 with a source knowledgeable with the daily happenings on the set of “The Young and The Restless", reveals that Muhney was upset and concerned about the welfare of his family. After his termination, the actor personally reached out to at least one co-star with whom he considered a friend, and may still. The source reveals that Michael Muhney reached out in an effort to make things right in the hopes of returning to “The Young and The Restless” as Adam Newman?

Muhney’s onset tantrums were well known on the set of “The Young and the Restless”. At times Muhney was even rude to actors from “The Bold and The Beautiful”, another soap opera on CBS. Over the nearly five years that Michael Muhney portrayed Adam Newman there were numerous incidences in which Muhney’s onset antics were addressed with CBS and Sony brass. The last incident resulted in Michael’s termination, but there may have been hope that he would return at a later date after ruffled feathers on set were smoothed down.

It is likely that the role will be recast at some point, as Adam Newman is a pivotal character to the storylines on “The Young and the Restless.”
