Did Ceelo Green quit 'The Voice' so NBC couldn't fire him?

Cee Lo Green was set to sit out the upcoming season of "The Voice" but was expected to return. On Feb. 21, Reality TV World reported that Cee Lo may have announced his resignation from the show in order to beat NBC to the punch.

Green shocked fans on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" when he announced that not only was he taking a season off from "The Voice" but that he wasn't coming back at all. The way it all played out, Cee Lo's announcement sounded very unscripted and impromptu. Even Ellen was shocked when Cee Lo said he didn't want to wear out his welcome.

Green also talked about how he hasn't put out an album in four years. Fans can look forward to an upcoming Cee Lo Green album release as well as an upcoming tour.

Fans of "The Voice" can look forward to seeing Usher join Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Shakira as judges for the upcoming season. Christina Aguilera, who recently announced she is pregnant with her second child, will also be sitting this one out.
