Now that the damage has been done, people are cleaning up from a fast moving wind and rain storm that hit the Southampton through Bristol areas of Bucks county last night, May 27 2014. There were dozens of trees down. and 14000 people lost power for some duration, Peco said. There were no injuries.
In the area of Buck Rd. and Sandpiper, in Southampton, crews were dealing with a multitude of trees that came down. In Bensalem, dozens of trees were felled all over the township, the largest one took out half of Bensalem Blvd near busy Rt 13. in nearby Croydon, resident reported a funnel cloud. However that had not been confirmed. In the area of Rosa Ave, trees were all over the place and in other parts of the township, lack of power meant no traffic lights. Fire Police were called to place generators to power them up.
To determine if a tornado or downdraft happened, the National Weather Service needs to see the debris field before it is moved. Emergency responders and residents have a different agenda. They want the debris out of the way and into the trash. When this happens, photos taken by Amaterasu and reports by professional Skywarn spotters become critical. currently, there has been no determination of what took place last night.
