The Hollywood community honored a special man on Sunday night at the SAG Awards. Dick Van Dyke was the man of the moment when he received the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. About midway through the award show the television legend took a moment while accepting the awards.
As everyone knows, Dick Van Dyke is a legend when it comes to entertainment. Covering television and movies, the man made comedy look so easy. While fans always differ on the favorite part of the entertainer’s career, one film that stands out from the rest is Mary Poppins. Playing the chimney sweeper, he character has been idolized for generations. However during his speech it was obvious how impressed he was with those actors currently in the business.
Dick Van Dyke hit the stage and it was impossible to believe he was an older actor. With the bounce and vigor he was looking delighted as the man of the hour was smiling from ear to ear. Addressing why his friends like Mary Tyler Moore weren't in attendance Van Dyke wanted the fans to know they cared about his award, but were too ill to attend the event.
