Dick's Last Resort 'Shame of the Gaslamp' - with Live music (Photos)

Dick's Last Resort in San Diego's 'Gaslamp' is one of the original, long standing businesses in the modern Gaslamp era and one of the first to include live music.

Dick's last resort started in the city of Dallas, in the year 1985. There are now a dozen additional restaurants in destination locations including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas, San Antonio and San Diego. The San Diego location opened in 1993, when the Gaslamp was young, and along with Croce's, was one of the few places that offered live music.

The atmosphere is beyond relaxed and casual venturing into the rude and crude territory. With the slogan 'the Shame of the Gaslamp', the servers famous for 'attitude' try hard to live up to their reputation. First timers are shocked, but soon learn it's part of the show, and they get into the swing of things by trading insults and abuse by the servers.

The crowd is a mix of young and old, of locals, tourists, business and conventioneers. After the business meetings and conventions, visitors find Dick's is a place to take off their ties, relax and let loose in a wild show. During baseball season many fans following their teams come over after the games from nearby PETCO park. Perfect place for a beer and some classic rock & Roll.

Some of the musical Alumni include the Soul Persuaders ,

Currently in the weekly lineup is long time favorite 'Private Domain' - they have been playing for years at Dick's, and can usually be found on a Friday or Saturday.

Also found every week on Dick's stage is 'Blue Rockit', another classic Rock & Roll band. - http://youtu.be/4rBxqi5P-jw

There is usually live music 4-5 days of week, from Tuesday to Saturday. With the arrival of baseball season, and a steady crowd, there is live music most days.

The dining room offers a variety of chicken, beef and seafood at a reasonable price. Besides the live music, there is a full bar decorated with bras, and an outdoor patio with picnic tables.

So, if you want to go out and not get dressed up, lose your pretentions of being 'hip and cool', let your hair down, relax and get ready for a rowdy good time in a unique setting!
