Of course, let's not leave out the “dithering”, either. The former Vice President outright lied on multiple occasions in order to attempt to make a case to invade Iraq. He was responsible for the non-strategy in Afghanistan. He put our men and women in harm's way for no verifiable reason whatsoever. Our troops fight valiantly, but our lack of a strategy, put in place by the Former Vice President and Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has left them in a precarious position.
So, of course, the Gospel according to Cheney says the President is “dithering”.
"I worry that there’s a lack of understanding of what this means from the perspective of the troops. You know, if you’re out there on the line day in and day out and putting your life at risk on a volunteer basis for the nation and you see the Commander in Chief unable to or appearing to be unable to make a decision about the way forward here – you know that raises serious doubts."
Cheney went on to suggest the "very costly" delay in a decision could be attributed to "inexperience" and argue that "every day that goes by raises doubts in the minds of our friends and allies in the region about what you’re going to do."
First off, a man who had five, yes, FIVE deferments from the draft is choosing to speak to what the “perspective of the troops” is. That's just an amazing amount hypocrisy in and of itself.
Secondly, if Cheney had just once “dithered” when it came to Iraq, then perhaps thousands of Americans wouldn't have died in the line of duty. Died for a senseless war fought under the pretense of “because we can”. The short-sightedness there and in Afghanistan are the legacy of which Cheney will be saddled. It will not be this attempt at revisionist history that the NeoCons have done so very well in the past.
Not this time. The American people will not fall for the smokescreen anymore, Mr. Vice President. No, in fact, when history shines upon your legacy, it will be known as “the man who tried to destroy America”.
Thankfully, you only had eight years to do your damage. It will take thirty to completely repair the damage, but at least Dick Cheney can't hurt America anymore.
Now, it's just this sad exercise in attempted revisionist history.
And it's failing.
Do yourself a favor Mr. Vice President. Take any shred of dignity that you might have left (it will be difficult to find), and do what you should have done from the day you left office, and what the President you served has done.
Shut. Up.

Perfectly said about an utterly despicable man. How does torture make us any better than the dictators we allegedly deplore?
