Dick Cheney on a mission to improve America: The Alliance for a Strong America

Dick Cheney, the former vice president under George W. Bush, and his daughter Liz Cheney, have been harshly criticizing President Barack Obama and his administration. In the midst of their highly publicized criticisms of President Obama and his policies, they have now unleashed a new political organization. The former vice president and his daughter have formed a new anti-Obama political group called “The Alliance for a Strong America,” according to Yahoo! News on Thursday.

During an interview on Megyn Kelly’s “The Kelly Files” on Fox News, the president was labeled as being a danger to America. Liz Cheney stated that President Obama has made it clear that his desire is to weaken the nation and that there is no question that Obama is a dangerous president. The harsh words came the day after the two Cheneys wrote an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal in which the pair accused Obama of wakening American interests. The op-ed also asserted that Obama has a failed approach to dealing with the escalating threats to Iraq’s security.

Accompanying the rollout of the Cheneys’ “The Alliance for a Strong America,” a video has been released which explains the organization. In the video, it is stated that the goal of the group is to reverse President Obama’s policies. According to the Washington Post, Dick Cheney asserts that the policies of the last six years have left America diminished and weakened and, he says, our enemies no longer fear us while our allies no longer trust us. Cheney goes on to bash Obama by saying that at this point in time, the United States is on a path of decline as Obama gives empty threats, meaningless redlines, leads from behind and engages with rogue regimes. He also asserts that threats to America’s security are on the rise while Iran is marching towards a nuclear weapon and al Qaeda is resurgent and establishing new safe havens across the Middle East – including Iraq where Obama withdrew all American forces.

The former vice president hasn't been without his controversies in the past. Needless to say, he has done and said things that many Americans have disagreed with in the past. This past reputation may now be sighted as a "that was then - this is now" situation. Many who have disagreed with Cheney in the past may very well agree with him on what he is saying about America and the Obama presidency in 2014.

According to “The Alliance for a Strong America” website, the group will fight to restore American strength, power and influence around the world. It says: “We know that American security, peace, and freedom depend upon reversing the dangerous policies of the Obama Adminisitration. We also know that America’s armed forces are the greatest fighting force and the greatest force for good the world has ever known. The Alliance for a Strong America will advocate for the policies necessary to protect the nation, and ensure that these issues are part of our national discussion in the coming years and beyond.” The web page gives a visitor an opportunity to join the organization by entering one’s email address and zip code.
