As the United States House of Representatives conducted its voting on the eleventh-hour deal to conclude the 16-day governmental shutdown on Wednesday night, a very bizarre occurrence was witnessed by persons present in the House, according to a Yahoo! News report on Thursday.
Dianne Reidy – a longtime House of Representative’s stenographer – walked up to the rostrum and started shouting into the microphone without prompting or warning. Though the microphone she was shouting into was immediately turned off, persons within earshot – lawmakers and staffers - claim that she was yelling about Free Masons, the devil, and the House of Representatives being divided. She was quoted as saying, “Do not be deceived. God shall not be mocked. A House divided cannot stand.”
Reidy was quickly approached by the security at the House of Representatives and pulled off the rostrum. As security yanked her away, she was said to have shouted that this is not one nation under God – and it never was.
Staffers who say they know the woman well said the incident saddened and surprised them. She was said to be well-known by the those in the House – a perfectly nice person and a good colleague. She has been described as someone who is respectable and dependable. According to the report, the occurrence was very surprising to everyone who works with her in the House.
