Dianne Webb is a conceptual abstract oil painter, writer, and theater director. At present, she is working on several series of oil and mixed media paintings, revising a literary novel, and moving into the greater Houston theater scene.
Over the last few years, Dianne has begun to work exclusively in the arts that have accented her life up until this time. Preoccupied with the experience of self-awareness, of awakening new ideas and thoughts within our psyches—her art seeks to evoke, provoke, invoke the viewer’s senses to question what is known and how one’s knowing might morph into new ideas, new questions, other landscapes.
Whether Dianne is working in visual media, literary arts, or engaging a number of performing artists she is looking to stretch the imagination, to offer an opportunity to examine anew one’s own constructs while outwardly engaging a piece of art...on the canvas, between the pages, on a stage.
Her visual art education has primarily been self-taught, growing up with an oil painter for a mother, a writer for a father. Since her own adolescence, she has studied how various artists have applied paint to canvas at the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Cezanne’s studio, St. Remy, MOMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, MFA Boston, MFAH, Menil Collection, Portland Museum of Art, and at various other museums around the country.
She was born in Maine, and is the middle generation of three generations of visual, literary, healing, and performing artists. She holds a BA/BS in the Behavior Sciences and an MFA. She presently writes and paints in her home studio and at Studio 33 at the Winter Street Studios in Houston, Texas.
Dianne will be having open studio time on March 12 along with all the other Winter Street artists. Stop by and see all her fabulous work! See her website http://www.diannekwebb.com
