Diane Sawyer rumors squashed, 'ABC World News' anchor not retiring (Video)

After much speculation, the Diane Sawyer rumors she was retiring have been squashed as per reports from Mediaite on Jan. 29.

It seems Sawyer (67), the first female correspondent for “60 Minutes” was casually discussing future career plans with friends and her words were blown out of proportion.

One source claims these comments were taken to the New York Post and the rumors spiraled out of control from there.
The source close to Sawyer’s camp reported:

“She has discussed with a few close friends and some people at ABC that she is seriously considering retiring … She said she’ll be ready to hang it up not long down the road. She loves work and what she does and has endless energy, but she’s overwhelmed with personal problems and she is thinking about leaving to take care of her family.”

Since the Diane Sawyer rumors spread, SVP for ABC News Jeffrey Schneider has gone on record to deny she is retiring this year: “That is not true. And had the Daily News actually asked us if Diane was considering retiring we would have told them yesterday that it wasn’t true.”

To date, Diane Sawyer has been part of “ABC World News”, “Good Morning America” and “20/20”. As a female correspondent and reporter, Sawyer has made great strides in the world of media reporting.
