Diane Sawyer rumors are circulating that claim the veteran newswoman could be retiring as early as this year. However, a representative for ABC is denying those rumors, according to a Jan. 29, 2013 report by New York Daily News.
Despite the denial issued by ABC, an unnamed source told New York Daily News, "She has discussed with a few close friends and some people at ABC that she is seriously considering retiring. She said she’ll be ready to hang it up not long down the road. She loves work and what she does and has endless energy, but she’s overwhelmed with personal problems and she is thinking about leaving to take care of her family."
The 67-year-old ABC World News anchor is reportedly dealing with an undisclosed personal matter in addition to her mother's illness.
Sawyer has been an integral part of ABC for 25 years. She has been married to husband Mike Nichols since 1988. According to Celebrity Net Worth, her estimated net worth is $40 million, and her annual salary is $12 million. If the Diane Sawyer rumors are true, at least she has a respectable nest egg to use in retirement.
