Diane Lane confirms retelling of origin in 'Man of Steel'

Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder have been very tight-lipped about the script for the new Superman movie "Man of Steel". Diane Lane told E! yesterday that she was locked into a room with the script for three hours.

Here is what she said:

"I read the script under lock and key… I was locked in a room with the script and was only allowed three hours with it. I nailed it into my memory. I’m really excited. I’m really not allowed to talk much about it, I think, but it does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on."

So, we know next to nothing beyond the fact that Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and General Zod (Michael Shannon) are in the film, and that Clark Kent’s adoptive human parents (played by Diane Lane and Kevin Costner) are also on board.

"From infancy on" at least confirms a broad timeline, one that was absent in the Bryan Singer "Superman Returns", including his time with the Kents as a child.

Michael Shannon revealed that he hadn't even seen the script as Snyder recited the film to him: "seriously sitting there and he's telling me, 'You can't read the script, so I'm just gonna tell you what happens.' And he spent a half hour telling me every scene in this movie."

Warner Bros. and Snyder will continue the lockdown as fans try to piece together the Superman puzzle since "Man of Steel" doesn't arrive until the end of 2012.
