The Monterey Jazz Festival has another busy weekend lined up for 2013. Festival organizers just announced the lineup for this year's edition, and headliners include Diana Krall, Wayne Shorter, Bobby McFerrin, George Benson and Orquestra Buena Vista Social Club.
Joe Lovano will be the artist-in-residence, showing up at (at least) four gigs over the course of the weekend, and new commissions include the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra premiering a tribute to Dave Brubeck.
On the side stages, you'll want to arrange your day to make time for Dr. Lonnie Smith, Big Sam's Funky Nation and the Lou Donaldson Quartet, among others.
The festival runs Sept. 20-22 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Multi-day ticket packages go on sale May 21, starting at $125. Single-day tickets ($40-$132) go on sale July 8.
