The snow industry is always on the search for more participants. As baby boomers continue to age and give up the sport, the need for additional ski and snowboard participants grows.

To help promote the sport, the industry has designated January as National Learn to Ski & Snowboard month. The program is an inexpensive way for beginners to learn the basic techniques of skiing and snowboarding.

Diamond Peak ski resort is one of many Lake Tahoe resorts that are participating in the learning program, demonstrating its commitment to help new skiers and riders learn and progress.

During the week of Jan. 14-18, Diamond Peak will offer Learn to Ski and Ride Week for first-time beginners for $29. The package includes a beginner lift ticket, group lesson and rental equipment for skiers and riders of all ages.

“It can be tempting to have your friends try and teach you to ski or snowboard,” said Carl Hill, Diamond Peak Ski and Snowboard School Director. “But the absolute best way for new skiers and riders to learn the necessary skills and to start off on the right foot is for them to ‘Go With A Pro.’ We’ll teach you proper technique and eliminate potentially bad habits from the start. You’ll learn, you’ll have more fun, and hopefully you’ll come back and do it all over again.”

Diamond Peak is a family-friendly ski resort located in Incline Village. The north Lake Tahoe resort offers good beginner terrain and features five lifts, 30 trails, plus some great views of Lake Tahoe.
