Diabetes lecture - the science of weight loss

There is a little secret, just a half hour drive outside of Ottawa. The diabetes educators at the Winchester hospital offer a monthly “Diabetes lecture” series. The lectures are aimed at the community and are open to all who are interested. Attendance is FREE. These one hour lectures are offered on a variety of subjects pertinent to diabetics and the community alike.

This month’s lecture is entitled “The Science of Weight Loss – Calorie intake and weight loss…. the facts”. Deirdre Cooke RD, CDE will be presenting the topic. She is a lively, entertaining speaker and everyone is sure to enjoy her presentation.

Time: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Where: Dillabough Board Room, Clarence St. Winchester, ON, on the campus of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital , 566 Louise St.,Winchester, ON.

Finding the room: The Dillabough Board room is located on Clarence St., in the one story building opposite (north) the Emergency Ambulance entrance of the Winchester hospital. The building is also adjacent (west) to the Winchester public school. This building also houses the Gamma-Dynacare Laboratory. Use the door on the east side of the building, which faces the public school.

Parking: Free parking is available in front of the building and also on the street.

The Diabetes Education Program at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital has received resounding acclaim. It offers comprehensive education to newly diagnosed diabetic patients, continued education and follow-up, plus community education and outreach. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and eager to help anyone with questions or problems.

Come out to learn about weight loss, as it pertains to diabetics. You do not need to be diabetic, or be a patient to attend.
