Diabetes-friendly recipes from Tsai and George

Great food for diabetics doesn’t have to be different from “normal” food. It doesn’t mean eating candy with aspartame. It doesn’t mean following a strict diet. In fact, says Joslin experts, there are a lot of misconceptions about what diabetics can and cannot be consumed.

It’s all about eating what everyone should be eating: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein foods, and heart-healthy fats.

Amy Campbell, MS, RD, LDN, CDE, nutritionist at Joslin Diabetes Center and co-author of 16 Myths of a "Diabetic Diet," debunks some common food myths for people with diabetes.

People with diabetes don’t have to eat different foods from the rest of the family. They Can enjoy occasional food cravings, including sweets. They can eat starchy foods like bread, pasta, and rice. It’s all about moderation, says Joslin experts.
