40% of our nation’s kids are either “at risk” or “overweight”, a 10-fold change from when I was a child. And it is not because of genetic changes. It is due to environmental changes. Today, kids are considerably less active and eat mostly highly-processed foods instead of home-grown fruits and vegetables. Too many carbs in the form of refined flour and sugar, along with lack exercise are mainly to blame for the start of this epidemic.
Then HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), a man made sugar, came along which is more disruptive and toxic than regular sugar.
Did you know 100 grams of sugar (the equivalent of a 5 oz chocolate bar and a can of soda) can suppress the immune system for up to 6 hours?
A study from Washington State University says: The average child eats 275 pounds of refined sugar per year and adults are eating 220 pounds per year. That’s more than 5 lbs. every week!
Ever wonder why everyone seems to get sick more often after holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day? Could it be too much sugar.
In addition to suppressing the immune system, sugar also leaches calcium from our bones, causes blood sugar to spike and drop erratically. Keep an eye out for your sugar content. It’s in almost everything on the grocery shelf.
Are you Sick and Tired of being sick and tired?
Are you overweight? Do you just have too much belly fat?
Is your blood pressure 130/90 or higher?
Do you have a elevated CRP (a measure of inflammation in your blood).
Is your Triglycerides above 150 mg/dl?

Are you always fatigued, have short of breath at nearly every step?
Many Names, One Disease----
Could it be Diabesity
You may be one among millions of people who are suffering from a health problem that is now epidemic in our country. Your doctor might have diagnosed you with one of many seemingly different diseases. He may have said you have:
• Insulin resistance
• Metabolic syndrome
• Syndrome X
• Adult onset diabetes
• Type 2 diabetes
Diabesity is the condition of metabolic imbalance and disease that ranges all the way from mild blood sugar imbalance to full blown diabetes.
Diabesity is also the leading cause of most chronic disease in the 21st century. Those with diabesity are at an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, dementia, cancer, high blood pressure, blindness, and kidney failure. Nervous system damage also affects 60 to 70 percent of people with diabetes and can lead to a loss of sensation in the hands and feet, slow digestion of food in the stomach, carpal tunnel syndrome, sexual dysfunction, and other nerve problems.
Diabesity is literally bankrupting our health care system. The direct and indirect costs of type 2 diabetes were $174 billion in 2007. The cost of obesity in that same year was $113 billion. So the total cost of diabesity to society can be conservatively estimated at nearly $300 billion per year. (4) To put that in perspective, diabesity has cost the U.S. $3 trillion over the past decade. That’s three times the estimated cost of fixing our entire health care system. And it’s only going to get worse. the projected cost of diabetes alone is expected to rise to more than $330 billion by 2034. http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/11/26/diabetes.projections/
The Toxic effects of Sugar
Whether it is sugar, fructose or HFCS they all have a dark toxic side. With HFCS having
a darker side and being one of the most common food additives.
Studies indicate that fructose raises your Cholestrol and LDL regardless of your health.
Did you know that sugar feed Cancer? In the journal Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prevention September 2005, “Women in the highest category of sugar-sweetened soft drink intake did experience a significant increase in risk”. The highest category was consuming
3 or more soft drink a day.
