DHS links Arizona shooter Loughner with white supremacist American Renaissance

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a memo linking Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords shooter Jared Lee Loughner with the anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, white supremacist hate group American Renaissance.

Fox News reports:

According to a law enforcement memo based on information provided by DHS and obtained by Fox News, Jared Loughner, the alleged shooter of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, may have been influenced by a pro-white racist organization that publishes an anti-immigration newsletter.

No direct connection, but strong suspicion is being directed at American Renaissance, an organization that Loughner mentioned in some of his Internet postings and federal law enforcement officials are investigating Loughner's possible links to the organization.

American Renaissance releases a monthly publication that promotes a variety of white racial positions. The group's ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), and anti Semitic, according to the memo which goes on to point out that Congressman Giffords is the first Jewish female elected to high office in Arizona.

However, American Renaissance is denying any association with Loughner.

What motivated  the 22-year-old Arizonan to carry out the attack, which killed six people and wounded more than a dozen outside a Tucson, Ariz. strip-mall on Saturday? We may never know. For  now, there are more questions than answers. Loughner's despicable and cowardly attack remains a mystery.

"NO DIRECT CONNECTION, but strong suspicion is being directed at American Renaissance ... "

Your reading comprehension skills aren't very good, are they?

BTW, this AmerRen group has said he is not now, nor has he ever been a member of their organization.

The guy was crazy. Period. Reading Marx is no more an indication that he was politically liberal than reading "Mein Kampf" is. How is "Mein Kampf" a liberal treatise? Why, as a liberal, would he read "Atlas Shrugged"? The guy was a government-hating anarchist whose rants make no sense and have no political basis. He wanted a return to the gold standard and imagined new letters of the alphabet and new symbols for numbers. He was crazy. 'Nuff said.

    Nicely stated Amber.

"The guy was a government-hating anarchist whose rants make no sense and have no political basis."

Sounds like a perfect description of your average Tea Party demonstrator.

  • Strong suspicion and no direct proof just doesn't cut it.

When are the loons gonna get it? This is just feel good legislation, criminals don't obey laws. If one wants to kill a politician, you think he's gonna worry about the penalty for carrying a gun around a congressman or the pres. These people are funny.
