DFW's Mike Fagan tops PBA Tour's average, earnings lists

Mike Fagan, who moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2011 from New York, has put himself atop the average and earnings leaders lists for the first seven events of the 2011-12 Professional Bowlers Association Tour season.

The Grapevine resident has averaged 236.90 for 82 games while collecting $61,250 in earnings. Both came in large part because of his win in the Alka Seltzer Gold Liquid Gels United States Bowling Congress Masters in January in Henderson, Nev.

Bill O'Neill of Southampton, Pa., is second in average at 227.83. Two-handed bowler Osku Palermaa of Finland, who won the PBA World Championship, is runnerup in earnings with $58,850.

Double Oak's Chris Barnes is sixth in average at 226.96 and sixth in earnings at $30,275.

Fagan, Palermaa and Barnes currently are competing with nearly 400 other bowlers for the next major title, the U.S. Open in New Jersey. That tournament ends Sunday.
