Just as promised, after pretty slow episodes, Season 8 of "Dexter" picked up the pace in episode 10 "Goodbye Miami." On Sunday, September 8, Showtime premiered the episode. Dexter puts his plans to move to Argentina in motion, as Saxon surprises everyone with a kill. Keep in mind there are spoilers ahead if you are not caught up with "Dexter."
The breakfast scene with Saxon and Vogel kicks off the episode. Saxon blames his mother for how his life has turned out, telling her all she cared about was her studies and never to help him. Vogel promises that she will now do all she can to help him.
Dexter confirms with Hannah that they will be moving to Argentina, and begins to plan all they have to do. First though, Dexter says he has to kill Saxon because he wants to protect Vogel from him. Debra arrives home to find all three there, Deb isn't happy that Harrison is with Hannah. Dexter breaks the news that the three of them are moving to Argentina together. Deb can't believe it, saying it's stupid and that it affects her. Dex says he will still visit and see her often, but Deb leaves before he finishes.
Quinn and Jaimie meet up. She tells him the good news that she was offered a good job in her career, but she doesn't want to go without Quinn. Quinn suggests that she doesn't miss the opportunity and that they will make it work somehow if she leaves.
Vogel visits Dexter, she says she wants to help her son and that she believes she can get him into a facility. Dexter says all he wants to do is protect her, but she refuses and wants her son left alone and tells Dex she does not want his help.
Quinn and Debra meet up, she tells Quinn about Dexter leaving and how much she hates it. Quinn tells her she should think about what's best for Dexter. They also talk about her getting her badge back. Quinn then leaves to check out a crime scene of a man that was killed riding his bike. In the crime scene, Dex tells Batista that he is planning on leaving.
Vogel arrives home to find Saxon outside, he opens the passenger door to his truck and asks his mom to get in because he wants to show her something. He takes her to his lair, what looks like an abandoned hospital. Vogel tells Saxon that she wants to be his mother again, and again says she will do all she can to help him.
By analyzing some videos on Vogel's computer, which he used to hack into Saxon's computer, Dexter learns that Saxon has been working in an abandoned hospital/clinic type location.
Quinn breaks things off with Jaimie, but denies that it's because of Deb. Jaimie knows Deb is the reason though, and storms out of his house.
Back at Deb's, Dexter and her have another talk about leaving. Debra says she hates this and doesn't know how her life will be without him. Dexter tells her that her life might actually be better now.
Vogel stops by Dexter's, to beg him again to leave Saxon alone. She says that it's better if he moves far away and she stays to help Saxon. Dex shows Vogel the videos of Saxon killing and Vogel is shocked, knowing Saxon has to be stopped.
Harrison has an accident and falls on the treadmill, he needs to be seen by a doctor so Hannah takes him. She feels paranoid because she fears she will be recognized by the nurses and staff.
Debra arrives to the station, where Batista fills her in on Quinn breaking up with Jaimie for her. Quinn tells Deb he still has feelings for her, they kiss.
At the hospital, a nurse calls the Marshall to tell him that Hannah was there with a kid named Harrison Morgan, he figures out that Hannah is with Dexter.
Vogel calls Dex while he is with Hannah, she tells him that Saxon will be at her house soon. Dexter is torn between staying with Hannah in case the Marshall returns or going over to Vogel's.
Saxon can tell right away that Vogel is acting strangely odd, and asks if there is something he should know. Dexter decides to go to Vogel's but gets there too late, only to watch Saxon slit his Vogel's throat. Dexter can't believe it and cries as he holds her.
