"Dexter" series finale news has come out from CBS Corp. chief executive Les Moonves. It looks like the "Dexter" series finale will air during season eight of the show, which is scheduled to take place on Showtime this summer. According to a report from late Tuesday (March 5), this will mark the end of Michael C. Hall's run as the title character Dexter Morgan.
There had been many rumors that this indeed would be the last season of the show, especially when so little time was set to take place between season seven and season eight being aired by Showtime. The season finale of the last season just took place in the fall, leaving only a small gap of time before season eight will premiere in June 2013. Fans won't have to wait very long to find out what took place after the last season finale, though rumored spoilers are already out on the internet.
The "Dexter" series finale will mark the end of one of the most successful shows that Showtime has ever had. Even though fans have had mixed reactions about the storylines in the last two seasons, the show was met with a lot of critical acclaim during its run. That includes quite a few awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series that Michael C. Hall won after being nominated four times. John Lithgow, in a supporting role, also won a Golden Globe and Emmy Award for his work on the show.
Expect Showtime to really push the promotion of the final season of "Dexter" and for the season eight premiere to receive a lot of buzz as June gets closer.
