Fans of Dexter, mark your calendars. The eighth season of the Showtime hit series will premiere this summer in June instead of September as it usually does. This news is great for fans of the show who didn't want to wait almost another year after the series' heart stop finale last month.
Showtime Entertainment President David Nevin divulged the information during a media event over the weekend but stayed tight lipped regarding the possible end to the series. Last year, many believed that Season 7 would be the end and earlier this year it was confirmed that season 8 would be the last. However, the decision still seems up in the air.
Nevin told reporters, "Before Dexter goes on the air for their next season there will be a clear end game in place, but I can't talk about it. The decision of when Dexter will end is ultimately a creative decision and made on creative reasons."
According to Screenrant.com, show runner Sara Colleton confirmed that she wanted to end the show after this current season but the network convinced them to wait two years. Either way, it looks like Dexter fans will have their answers on how long they have to watch their favorite show by the time it premieres in June.
Dexter airs on Showtime, Cox Cable channel 340.
