Dexter Roberts talks about his time on 'American Idol'

"American Idol" is in full swing for Season 13. Dexter Roberts was eliminated after receiving the fewest votes this week. Roberts performed "Muckalee Creek Water" by" Luke Bryan on the “Competitor's Pick themed performance show. Roberts was in the bottom two with Jessica Meuse.

LA Music Examiner spoke with Dexter Roberts right after his elimination from the show. Roberts stated that he got to sing all the songs he wanted to on the show. However, his plans for his two songs next week were to sing "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith for his rock song. For, his country song he had two in mind at the time to finalize on Friday.

Roberts also stated that he was so proud and grateful of how far he made it on the show. So many great things have happened during his journey on the show. He met his girlfriend during the Idol auditions, he got to compete with C.J. Harris who he knew before he auditioned for the show. He will miss the contestants the most, but will see them at the finale and all summer long on tour. He is also looking forward to going on tour this summer and seeing different places and meeting the fans that voted for him. He next will head to New York to do post show interviews, he is looking forward to it as he has never been to New York.

His plans after the tour is to keep performing and his style will continue to be "straight up country music". He also stated that one of the best advice he received while on the show was from judge Keith Urban which was to "be yourself and have fun".

"American Idol" airs Wednesdays and Thursdays on Fox. Next week on the show the theme will be “A little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock and Roll." Each finalist will sing 2 songs, one rock song and one country song.

The Top 6 finalists are C.J. Harris, Jena Irene, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Alex Preston and Sam Woolf.
