Bangor--- The Penquis Patriots boys basketball suffered one loss during the regular season.
That loss came against the Dexter Tigers at Milo on January 7th.
Leading scorer Isaiah Bess (disciplinary) and fellow starter Cody Herbest (sick) missed that game for the Patriots.
The Patriots will get another chance against the Tigers Friday evening in a class C semifinal game at 7 p.m. at the Bangor Auditorium.
Bess and guard Trevor Lyford are two of the top players in the state regardless of class. Both are juniors.
"Milo (Penquis) has Isaiah Bess and Trevor Lyford, "Dexter guard Trevor Fogarty said. "Two of the best in high school basketball."
The Tigers are without Dylan Graffam (disciplinary) for tournament games.
Penquis (18-1) defeated Stearns 51-23 in a quarterfinal game Wednesday morning. Bess hit a three pointer early in the first quarter to go over 1000 career points.
Dexter (13-7) defeated Lee 41-38 in the quarterfinals.
The top seeded Houlton Shiretowners (18-1)will take on Calais (15-4) in the other semifinal game at 8:35 p.m. Friday evening.
Sophomore sensation Kyle Bouchard scored 41 points in a 72-53 Shiretowners quarterfinal victory over Bucksport.
Fifth seeded Calais advanced to the semifinals when they defeated fourth seeded Sumner 50-35.
