DEXTER-- The 2012 season was a difficult one for the Dexter Tigers boys soccer team.
Coach Peter Murray will look to his senior leaders and his large group of freshmen and sophomores to improve on last years 0-14 record.
"Only losing one senior from last year's team offers optimism for the upcoming season,"Murray said. "This year's team will still only have two seniors, so it is a young team that will require steady play from some young players. If the younger players come along quickly, we hope to improve on last year's season."
The Tigers did lose five players from last years squad for various reasons. That will put the spotlight on the incoming freshmen more than originally planned.
"Last year was a very tough season. We return many players from last year's team. However, we did have one player from last year move out of town, two switch to football, and two others who have decided not to play this year,"Murray said. "We hope that the small group of incoming freshmen will be able to pick up some of that slack. We are hopeful that despite these loses, we can improve on last year and put together a competitive team this season."
The Tigers will open the season when they travel to Guilford for a battle against PCHS. The home opener will be against Searsport. Click here for the full schedule.
