Bangor---- It is difficult to beat a team three times during a season.
The Dexter Tigers and Calais Blue Devils girls basketball teams will look to put that theory to rest.
Dexter (19-0) will take on Orono (16-3) in the first class C semifinal game at the Bangor Auditorium on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Tigers forced 37 Red Riots turnovers in a 51-42 victory at Dexter on December 22nd.
Jordyn Bell and Michaela White scored 14 points each to lead the Tigers to a 43-39 victory in the regular season finale at Orono on February 7th.
The Tigers were without starting point guard Tasha Pratt in the game at Orono.
"Last time we played them it was a close game. This time Tasha (Pratt) should be back and that puts me back where I should be.with her back in the game," :Bell said. "We should be a little more comfortable this time."
Lauren Crane from Dexter and Jillian Woodward from Orono are two of the 10 Miss Maine semifinalist. The duo are teammates on the basketball court during the summer and friends off the court.
Crane said "Jillian (Woodward) and I are friends so we were friendly trash talking to one another."
The last time the Tigers and Red Riots met during the tournament was in 2011. Jade Keezer broke a single game tournament record by hitting eight 3-point shots.
Keezer scored 28 points to lead Orono to a 59-41 semifinal contest two years at the Bangor Auditorium.
Calais (19-0) is the top seed in the class C girls tourney. The Blue Devils will take on the Mattanawcook Lynx in the other semifinal match-up.
Calais won the two regular season games with the Lynx by scores of 52-29 at Lincoln on December 14th. The Blue Devils held off the Lynx for a 41-35 victory at Calais on January 18th.
