According to Wednesday's KCTV 5 News, a loyal pit bull in Oregon City, Oregon, managed to whisk a young member of her family to safety this week after the child was attacked by a swarm of angry bees.

The trouble began on Tuesday evening when eight-year-old Jesse-Cole Shaver and his friends were exploring in the woods not far from their apartment complex, and a swarm of bees was stirred up after one of the kids stepped on a rotten log.

The response from the disturbed bees was instantaneous - the bees began stinging the kids as they scrambled up the steep embankment in an attempt to escape. Young Shaver stumbled and fell, but his faithful canine companion, "Hades," was at the ready and took matters into her own hands...or rather, her mouth.

The dog first grabbed the boy by his pants and started to drag him away from the bees and then, she went a step further and allowed him to crawl on her back. The boy described his dog's amazing actions:

Hades saw me and came and dragged me up to the grass and stopped and let me crawl on her back and took me to my mom,"

The boy and his sister were stung multiple times and had to be treated for the stings at an area hospital, but things would likely have ended much worse if not for the devoted dog's heroic behavior. The boy's mother expressed her gratitude towards Hades, stating:

Oh, I thank my puppy,"

"I'm so glad we adopted her."
