The Albany Devils lost their 13th shootout game of the season after blowing a 2-0 lead as Rochester rallied with two unanswered goals to tie the game in the third period and force overtime. It was also the third straight loss for the Devils, although they gained a point in a game they desperately needed two points from. The Devils remain on the outside of the AHL Eastern Conference playoff race, just four points back of the eighth and final playoff spot
Reid Boucher and J.S. Berube both scored for Albany in the loss this afternoon and goaltender Keith Kinkaid made 20 saves. Boucher's goal was his third in five games and Berube scored his first of the season.
Steve Zalewski and Joe Whitney assisted on Boucher’s tally. Zalewski is now tied with Matt Anderson for the team lead with 29 assists and he is third with 39 points. Whitney registered his team-leading 49th point, which is tied for ninth most in franchise history
After a scoreless overtime period, the Devils couldn’t find the back of the net in the shootout, but all of Rochester's shooters converted in their second straight shootout win.
The Devils will now travel to Binghamton for their next game on Friday night against the Senators at 7:05 p.m.
