The New Jersey Devils announced today that they have acquired Andrei Loktionov from the Los Angeles Kings for a fifth round draft pick. The 22-year-old Loktionov has played in 59 career NHL games, all with the Kings, recording seven goals and seven assists for 14 points and four penalty minutes.
Loktionov has appeared in 37 games for the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League this season, recording seven goals and 15 assists. Born in Voskresensk, Russia, Loktionov was drafted by the Kings in the fifth round (123rd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Loktionov will be assigned to the American Hockey League’s Albany Devils. During his first North American season, Loktionov was a member of the 2008-09 Memorial Cup-winning Windsor Spitfires, where his teammates included current Devils’ forward Adam Henrique and prospect Harry Young.
The Russian forward also represented his country at the 2007 and 2008 World Junior Under-18 Championships.
Currently, there is no room on the Devils roster for Loktionov, so he will spend some time in Albany until he gets a call-up.
