Developing Faces is a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to providing quality plastic surgery, craniofacial surgery, and pediatric plastic surgery care to children in need across the world. On April 22, the organization hosted their first fundraising event, and guests participated in a silent and live auction at posh Chelsea lounge Gilded Lily (408 W. 15th St.).
At the fundraiser, Developing Faces President Dr. Robert Morin and CEO Sue Kim described the important work the non-profit does in some of the neediest areas. Operations such as cleft lip and palate repair, facial reconstruction, and speech surgery would simply be impossible for impoverished families to afford without the efforts of organizations like theirs. The level of care Developing Faces provides is equal to that received at major craniofacial centers in the United States, and they have developed unique methods for post-operative care and patient management. Developing Faces physicians have conducted surgical missions in Colombia, Guatemala, Haiti, the Philippines, and other countries.
The Developing Faces Spring Charity Event auction featured a seven-day, six-night stay at a private Italian villa, autographed sports memorabilia, Beatles collectibles, artwork-- including an Andy Warhol piece-- and more. Guests enjoyed sponsored cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle, live performances, and music by DJ Exacta. After the fundraiser, the party continued at Meatpacking hotspot Provocateur. It was a great event benefiting an ever greater cause.
